Bulgarian Colors & Descriptions
Colors are the friendliest way to learn how Bulgarian adjectives agree — because you can practice on everything you order: black coffee, red wine, white cheese.
The Palette

Agreement: -0, -а, -о, -и
Adjectives copy the noun's gender with the same endings you met on един/една/едно:

Note: вино and кафе are neuter → both adjectives take -о. The café is your grammar gym.
Three Small Twists
Three high-frequency colors bend the pattern slightly — all three in ways you'll meet again across the language:

Note: Three neuters, three flavors of -о. Note синьо with its soft ь — one of that letter's rare public appearances.
Beyond Colors
The same four endings carry every basic description:

Note: град is masculine → голям. A feminine noun would take голяма: голяма къща, a big house.

Note: Also works as a goodbye — you heard лек ден in the greetings lesson; хубав ден is its twin.
Common Mistakes
- Forgetting agreement entirely. «Червен вино» grates on every Bulgarian ear — вино wants -о.
- Regularizing син. It's синя/синьо/сини — the soft set, not сина/сино.
- Keeping черен's е. Only the masculine keeps it: черна, черно, черни elsewhere.
- Writing бяли. The я flips to е before -и: бели.
- Learning colors as a list. Learn them glued to nouns you order — черно кафе, червено вино — and agreement comes free.
