Inherited from Proto-Slavic *klobukъ̀ (hat) (>klobũk>klobȗk>klòbūk), with similar Turkic origin as kalpak. The meaning "a bubble of water" is of metaphorical and partly onomatopoetic origin, accompanied by the change in accent ◌̀>◌̏.
