   • Rorty podważa założenie, że funkcja umysłu/języka polega na reprezentowaniu świata, zaś umysł/język przypomina tytułowe "zwierciadło natury". Przekonywał, że zarówno filozofia Kartezjusza, jak i Locke'a zakłada wizję umysłu, który działa właśnie niczym zwierciadło.

     Rorty questions the assumption that the function of the mind/language is based on representing the world, while the mind/language resembles the titular "mirror of nature". He argued that the philosophy of Descartes, just as much as that of Locke, assumes a view of the mind that works just like a mirror.
