Tomorrow: the ћу Future
Футур — радићу, ићи ћу — plans with merged Serbian spelling.
The future clitics
ћу, ћеш, ће, ћемо, ћете, ће combine with an infinitive: Сутра ћу радити. Like сам and ми, the short future form normally occupies second position.
Следеће недеље ћемо путовати.
Next week we will travel.
The Serbian merged form
When a -ти infinitive comes first, Serbian drops -ти and joins the clitic: радити → радићу, писати → писаћу. Verbs in -ћи stay separate: ићи ћу, доћи ћу.
Радићу сутра. / Ићи ћу сутра.
I'll work tomorrow. / I'll go tomorrow.
Questions and negatives
Ask «Да ли ћеш доћи?» or «Хоћеш ли доћи?» Negatives fuse: нећу, нећеш, неће, нећемо, нећете, неће.
Хоћеш ли доћи? — Нећу моћи.
Will you come? — I won't be able to.
ћу да + present
Spoken Serbian also uses ћу да + present: Ја ћу да радим. The infinitive future and the да-future are both common; keep the person matched.
Сутра ћу да учим.
Tomorrow I'll study.
Present for fixed plans
Near, arranged plans often use the present: Сутра идемо у Нови Сад. Context already supplies the future.
Вечерас гледамо филм.
We're watching a film tonight.
